The Henry’s Fork and the South Fork of the Snake River join together at a point near Menan, Idaho. It is at this confluence that the main stem of Idaho’s Snake River is born. From here, the river winds downstream through the city of Idaho Falls, and into American Falls Reservoir, the largest reservoir in the upper Snake River chain.
Below American Falls it runs down to Massacre Rocks along its journey westward toward the Columbia. This secretive section of the Snake has a lot to offer anglers. The trout here are incredibly huge!

In addition to some of the world’s largest cutthroats, rainbows and brown trout, it holds a variety of other sought after game fish.In the lower sections of the Snake, there are also good numbers of Smallmouth Bass, huge Carp, and even Sturgeon!
